In 2017, the Urban Complexity Lab at FH Potsam partnered with Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research to produce an information film about the history of carbon dioxide emissions and their cumulative nature, from the Industrial Revolution until now, and further on into the year 2100 with two differing future scenarios.

The iOS app CO2 AR was developed as a spin-off. The use of AR was an attempt to strike out the urgency of the matter. The central info-vis element of the film, a globe with a 3-D cumulation chart, is placed in AR space and can be rotated. The cumulation can be controlled with a time slider and a switch for the two future scenarios.
